Finance minister rules out separate carbon tax
BEIJING - China will not introduce a separate carbon tax, the country's finance minister said on Sunday.
Instead, a carbon tax is likely to be incorporated into the environmental protection tax or resource tax, Lou Jiwei said at the China Development Forum, which was held in Beijing this weekend.
Talking about individual income tax, Lou said the current tax system is "unreasonable" and promised it will be reformed.
An official plan for the reform needs to be ratified by the State Council, the cabinet, he said.
